Have put a picture on my profile.

She has been poorly with a cold and ear infection and has now had this rash since last night.

No temp today but very grumpy!

I am really sure its just a viral thing but there is this little voice in the back of my head making me worry, I can't get an appointment with GP and I do tend to be a real worrier anyway. Just need some reassurance that its nothing serious??

Does it 'blanche' (disappear) when you put a glass over it? If not then get her to a doc straight away.

If it does, it sounds a bit like when my DS had Roseola (sp?). Nasty cold and temperature, then the rash appeared as he was getting better.

I'm not a medical expert though, so please get a professional opinion.

Yes it does blanche. Thats exactly what has happened with DD, been really poorly and now she is getting better the rash has appeared

Just googled Roseola and it fits in with DD's age and symptoms exactly

Roseola dd had it in September cold and really high temp for 4 days then rash appeared and temp disappeared. The rash came and went on and off for around 4 days

DSs quite often get a post viral rash at the end of a bug.
Frightened my mother when she first saw it.

Pinkjenny · 05/01/2011 13:07

Agree with Katisha - looks post viral to me.

Dd had a rash after a cold last week so I phoned nhs 24 the nurse then said it was probably just a viral rash based on what I was saying but I should take her to a pharmacist to confirm.
I did and he confirmed that it was just a viral rash and put my mind at ease.

It might be worth going along to your local pharmacy if you can't get a gp appointment they may be able to help.
