hi, my son is 14 months old-is under a respiratory paeatrician due to bronchiolitis rsv at 9weeks old, recurrent chest infectons and breathing noises- being treated daily with brown and blue inhaler.
anyway- he has hiccups every day-is this normal? i have a 4 year old and he only had hiccupas as a baby. however my 14 month old really suffers with them and also has burps which still need burping.
the reason i am seeing this as a problem now is they look awful when he doesnot have a top on his middle of his ribs cage really sucks in with each hiccup.
am i being daft? should i get it investigated.

My son is coming up to 14 months and has a spookily similar history to your lo and gets hiccups most days but I can't say it has ever concerned me. Mention it next time you see the consultant and see what they say!

Does, or did, your DS have reflux? My DD is 2.7. She had quite bad reflux until about 18 months, but now has very few signs of reflux, but does have hiccups frequently. She seems to go through phases of have hiccups several times a day and then having a few days of no hiccups. They don't seem to worry her usually but they do look quite severe.

Sometimes I can 'massage' the hiccups away by gently rubbing and pressing her tummy just below her breastbone.

At the last appointment DD had with the paediatrician about her reflux, I mentioned the hiccups. The paed was not worried and said that her own son was 9 and still had hiccups a lot, particularly if he was laughing.
