Poorly toddler, asthmatic and very wheezy

Hi all.

Posted a long time ago and not since. But have a question/need advice/reassurance.

DS been on preventative and reliever since he was 8mth old. Usually pretty controlled. Last few days had a dry sounding cough, no cold symptoms or temp. Got progressively worse, had 6 puff (2 x 3) of ventolin today, very wheezy and breathless. Seeing GP at 3.40pm, but he seems ok in self, has told me his throat hurts (pointing to his chest - he's 2yrs 5mths!). He had bronciolitis at 5mths and i'm worried it might be that again.

Managed to get him to rest (he keen on playing but then has a huge coughing fit/wheezing etc).

Feel a bit of a fraud taking him in, am i over reacting? Doesn't help that he HATES the doctors and screams so doctor usually says he must be ok as can protest!

My son has a similar history and I would always take him to the doctor when he is like that - its always best to get him checked. They can give a nebuliser which relieves symptoms better if necessary, if nothing else.

My son also always seems more well than he is, if that makes sense. One time we were at A&E and they said they could see he was fine but would xray as a precaution. They then admitted him as he had pneumonia!

Hope he is ok.

Hi all,

Has chest infection, on antibiotics and told to up his clenil.

Pixie - sorry meant 6 puff over the course of day, it relieved wheezing for an hour or so each time.

Still bit wheezy if moving around, will see how he goes.

It was worth taking him to the doctors then, it's hard to know sometimes isn't it.

Hope the antibiotics start working soon.

How's your DS skydance?

He had no temp this morning or anything, but gone downhill this afternoon. Still couple of days of antibiotics and we should be on the mend

Thanks Pixie - never know if i'm making a fuss or not. Think i need to trust myself a bit more. We have fab new doctor but old surgery was so poor that i felt i made a fuss all the time
