Lump on back of neck - panicking!

GoodDaysBadDays · 13/11/2010 00:39

ds is 3.4 and has chicken pox

just been cuddling him and came across a lump on the back of his neck, on the left, a bit larger than a pea and visible to the eye.

it seems to bother him when i touch it but his skin is sore due to the cp

I'm in panic mode now!

Could this be related to his cp? Or should i ring gp in the morning?

I'm sure it's related to Chickenpox DS was smothered in spots and lumps and bumps but if your worried get it checked out. I wouldn't treat it as an emergency.

Hope he's feeling better soon. xx

Sounds like a lymph node and fairly normal if he's been poorly. My dd gets lumps like marbles in her neck whenever she's even slightly ill.

If it doesn't subside in a week or so, I'd see a doctor but I wouldn't panic.

Please don't panic. I hadn't even heard of lymph nodes before ds had chicken pox. He mostly had cpox on his upper body and loads on his head. I then one day felt loads of bumps all over the back of his head and neck and totally freaked. I was 29 weeks pregnant at the time rushed him to gp who said lymph nodes and totally normal with an illness like c pox. It took a couple of months for them to reduce to normal size which is also quite normal.

Ah thanks for your replies

My googling came back with lymph nodes too and have just confirmed with a phone call to gp

Am more relaxed now, especially after hearing you all had similar experiences.

Thank you Smile
