Bleach - any experience of children and bleach?

My DD who is just 3 just went to wash her hands. Instead of doing it in the sink she did it in the toilet which I had forgotten to flush since putting bleach down to clean (I usually lock door from outside when bleach is down the loo).

Anyway, I went into the toilet to find her sitting on the toilet and saying that her mouth was hurting. She had been in there less than two minutes. I smelt her hands and one of them smelt of bleach and when I asked if she had put her hands in the toilet she said yes. The bleach and water looked all mixed up and frothy iykwim.

I washed her hands and had her drink lots of water whilst holding for NHS Direct. They explained that due to the small amount she would have ingested, as in she didn't drink it, that I should give her milk and keep my eye on her. I gave her milk, obviously washed hands and face etc. and she has now just eated fishfingers and chips and mushy peas. She seems absolutely normal and says that her mouth is better.

I just wondered if anyone else had been through something similar. Any advice or info. TIA

Sorry, I also asked her if she put her fingers in her mouth and she said yes, which is why her mouth would have been hurting.

I used to get bleach flavour sandwiches as mum used the kitchen sink for washing shirts, and left my lunch on the drainer. So far as i know it has done me no harm...
