My dd is 20w.o. She's totally breastfed. the other night i found about half a tea spoon amount of blood in her stool (which was as usual, runny+slimey). Her previous nappy had a few tiny specks of blood in, and there's been a couple of nappies in the last 2months with tiny bits of blood in too. She has no other symptoms+is very happy (apart from her teething hurting at the moment). I've read she might be lactose intholerant so i've cut all dairy products out, the doctor says i shouldnt though, but i have a feeling it might be that and i've had a lot of dairy recently. Does anyone have any suggestions of what it might be? I'm worried..

there is lactose in your breastmilk so if she was lactose intolerant she would react to your milk too. You may be thinking of a reaction to cows milk protein which would be in dairy products.

Sometimes people just bleed when they poo.

Has she been farty or does she strain when she poos? Is the blood red? If so, then it might just be that some of her small blood vessels broke when she pood. Nothing sinister.

You could get her GP to test her poo for infection, but I went through all this with my DD2 (+ green poo for ages) and in the end it resolved itself.

Yes i mean cow's milk protein. The blood was bright red. She is very farty! She strained a bit when the blood came out but didnt look in pain. Thank you, i hope this does resolve itself too, though i think i will still cut dairy products out for the time being.
