Ingestion of Burt's Bees body lotion by 7 month old

My 7 month old just swallowed some Burt's Bees body lotion. Not sure how much but he grabbed the bottle and was chewing on it for a minute or so whilst it was facing down before I noticed the lid was open and grabbed it off him. Can't seem to find anything on the Burt's Bees website about ingestion but all the ingredients are natural and presumably they assume some may get swallowed when they are manufacturing baby products so it's hopefully ok but does anyone know for sure?

call a doctor and ask for advice its what i would of done, you should keep things out of reach from young children

i never have anything in reach of my daughter

I am sure it will be fine. My dc have both eaten Sudocrem. Dd ate some nail varnish once.

I rang NHS Direct, I think they have a toxicology database. Even so, I'm sure it'll be fine.

These things happen. We can't all be as perfect as chattymummy25.

Im NOT perfect i learnt from when my DD was a baby and did it with shampoo! you would actually think about moving things 1st mind you accidents happen call your doctor for advice have you tried googling it or go to www.nhsdirect.com and fill out there online self help form good luck hope he's ok x

Chattymummy, I think that's a huge over reaction and that the doctor would probably laugh at me. How many kids do you have? One I am guessing?? Please don't DARE suggest I am endangering my children in anyway. These products are obviously going to be around children/within their reach. Oh, and it's would HAVE done, not would OF done.

Gangle try not to worry, I'm sure your bubs will be fine. These things happen to ALL of us, take no notice of chattymummy, she clearly is on her very high horse today. X

Well, DD ate a few chunks out of a bar of soap and was totally fine, so I would imagine your DS will be fine. Obv not the same thing, but I very much doubt there's anything poisonus/toxic in Burt's Bees products. How is he today?

Thandeka · 22/10/2010 21:19

If it's any consolation I fed dd a shepherds pie today that smelt distinctly of burts bees baby bath powder as we once put some in that Tupperware!. Despite being washed a zillion times the smell is still there, ahem a quick taste test ascertained it didn't taste of it so dd wolfed the lot! Dd is fine! Burts bees stuff is yum!

Gangle, my 2 year old regularly eats the burts bees cream from his tummy. I think it is, in fact, edible.
