Help - ds2 just come up in horrendous blistery rash

DS2, aged 7, had flu jab a week ago, has just complained about itching and I removed his clothes to find him covered in horrendous looking dry blistery things. They are very itchy if he scratches but if he leaves them alone then he isn't too troubled by them. I'm waiting on NHS direct, but any ideas in the meantime?

TIA

He had an Alpen bar for the first time yesterday . . .

i dont think this has anything to do with the flu jab.
(unless swine flu, which does have more in the way of side effects, but dont think rash is one of them.)

if he had a problem with a alpen bar, he would have shown earlier symptoms.

however, i think this is worth waving under your gp's nose.

have you changed washing powder, softener.

does your child have eczema , asthma?

do you or his father have any allergies?

Are the blisters all over? Does he have a fever?

It could be an Alpen reaction as anaphalaxis reactions can come and go and an immediate reaction doesn't always present - in fact you have have a minor instantaneous reaction then get much sicker later on.

Has he had chickenpox, hand foot and mouth etc before?

Try some piriton syrup.

Thanks ladies. Went to the out of hours GP. It was/is urticaria - horrendous itching, which comes on really suddenly - a reaction to a cough he's had for a while, with the immune system overreacting, apparently. Simple to treat with piriton/antihistamine.

We have some amazing pictures of his back. The GP was very impressed with him!
