swollen groin area in 5 month old

Hi, i noticed this morning that the area around my 5 month olds (Boy) groin appears to be swollen, i also got my mum to have a look and she agrees. It doesn't seem to be sore as he doesn't show any reaction when touched or when i've changed his nappy. He's just getting over a cold so could it be swollen glands to do with that?

If its not calmed down by monday morning then i think i'll take him to the docs, although don't want to feel like an over anxious mother. He got to 5 months without ever having to go to docs and this would be the 2nd time in two weeks

Not an expert (this shall become clear) but are you BF and are you on any medication?

How do you mean when you say swollen? Is it a little bit, the size of a coin or all of it?

I am breast feeding but not on any medication. It is swolen all the way round but its not red and sore looking, just bigger. i think it may have gone down a bit today but still not back to normal, will go docs in the morning i think

It could be a hernia which is quite common in boys, both my sons had this. But you do need to see the doctor. If he is in any pain you should take him in straight away (obviously)

thanks will see what the doc says, he's not in any pain at all as far as i can tell, put it this way he's been really happy and smily all day.

took him docs this morning, he has sliding testicles. Apparently its fairly common in baby boys and should sort itself out by the time he is 1 or if not he'll need a little op.
