Can too much fruit juice lead to sore bottom/poos/nappies?

DD almost 3 has never really had any bottom issues before but now when she does a poo she is really yelping in pain afterwards and terrified to get wiped clean, her poor wee bottom is quite red. She's been drinking more orange juice than normal recently and I've been quite lax about diluting it - could this be the culprit?

yes - it's well known for it

Too much fibre can be as bad as not enough.

Definitely the orange juice - you need to get diluting or ideally cut it out for a bit to let her recover. Poor wee thing!

Oh thank you so much. I was hoping it might be that and not anything more sinister. It's entirely my fault as I am deep in the throes of morning sickness and drinking it myself in the mornings as it really helps, and then too weary to say no when she asks for it! Will be drinking it in secret from now on, she is quite happy without it when there is none in the house, but she knows it is there in vast quantities atm!

Maybe you could keep a watered down carton in the fridge for her, give her that and save the refusal? She'd never know the difference.

pineapple juice is the worst as it is a strong laxative
