19 month old eye infection I didn't make it to the docs

My 19 month old had woken up with a red and slightly swollen eyelid. I had an eye infection a week or two ago which ended up making my whole eye swell shut and needed drops fro the doctor. Our doctor has drop I'm appointments in the morning between 8:30 and 10 but I had to take my oldest to school -It is a couple of miles between the school and the doctor and there is no bus so by the time I had got her into school, and rushed there with the double buggy and a flustered three year old they had stopped adding people to the list so I got sent away to go back tomorrow :(

The thing is I know that my eye swelled up overnight and I'm worried the same will happen to her even though at the moment it doesn't took too bad. Would you call up now and ask for an emergency appointment? Or would you leave it until tomorrow morning ( when my husband will be able to do the school run)

I would definitely ask for an emergency appointment

You can also try bathing her eye with boiled (cooled) water from the kettle and also warm water with salt in it.

Hope she feels better soon.

I would ring and ask for a telephone consultation. It saves you having to struggle there with all your kids and they will advise you or else send a prescription to your local chemists for her is necessary.

Does she still have a fever?

You could also try taking her direct to the chemists and asking their advice, they know an awful lot about these things.
