white blister-like spots on newborn's face - any ideas?

My dd is 7 days old now, and when she was born she had three white spots on either side of her face right at the hairline, sort of like blisters, raised from the surface. The dr looked at them during the nursery exam and had never seen anything like it, so called in the consultant, who hadn't seen them before either, so we're awaiting an appointment with the consultant dermatologist. While we wait, my mind is in over-drive worrying about what they could be, and I just wondered if anyone had come across anything like this before? They are definitely not the little milk-spot type things babies get across their noses - these are quite pronounced and have been there for a week. The pigmentation of her skin looks 'different' where the spots are if that makes sense? Thanks in advance - hope someone can help!
