DD has just been visited by out of hours as temp over 40, they said both ears and throat are infected and have started her on amoxicillan 2.5 ml 3 times a day. Does this seem like the correct dose, i am sure my older daughter was only on this dose when she was 4.

Could be diffrent strenghs for example 7 month old could be on 125mg/5ml so a 2.5ml dose would only be 62.5mg of amoxicillin where as your 4yr old could of been given a 250mg/5ml which would make a 2.5ml dose 125mg of amoxicillin. Hope this helps

DS was on soemthing similar for the 250mg/5ml strength at 17 months. I guess it depends on the strength of the medicine and the illness as well as the age of the child.
