Can antibiotics lead to balinitis ?

When I last had antibiotics they gave me thrush. DS1 has just finished a course of antibiotics and has a sore, red tip of his willy. Could be nothing, could be balinitis??

Do you think this is a coincidence?

Do you think I should go back yet again to dr's ???

Thanks

balinitis can be caused by fungal infections as well as bacterial infections - so yes it could have caused it

DS1 had balinitis alot - we were given timodene cream in the end which is fab as it was anti fungal as well as anti biotic and a hydrocortisone

Absolutely, if thrush is the cause of the balantitis. Back to GP asap as balantitis can get very nasty and swollen fast. Anti fungal cream cleared it up a treat, this was second choice to the antibiotics which he threw up big time.

My ds had this repeatedly, we tried all sorts of creams, antifungal, antibiotic, hydrocortisone. In then end teaching him gently pull back foreskin and to use some toilet tissue to dry end of his penis was the only thing that worked. The GP said it was starting off again because it was perfect growing conditions for germs/fungus beneath foreskin with dampness of urine. It all depends on how old your ds is perhaps?
Hope that helps
