We have recently noticed that DD has an odd tongue

Instead of having one lingual frenulum (I had to look that up) she has two with a deep divide between them. It doesn't seem to affect her speech or eating, but I've never heard of it or seen it before and wondered if it was anything worth noting with her gp.

There was no note of it on her medical history when she came to us, so either nobody had noticed or it's not important enough to be be noted on her medical records.

I'd be interested if anyone knows anything about it. Her sister has a cleft palate and I was wondering whether DD's divided frenulum is the same sort of thing in a different location.

No idea but would be interested to know.

Never heard of it specifically, but the frenulum itself is a bit of a waste of space which can tear easily but doesnt need treatment. perhaps your girly is just unique !

Maybe it is really rare then. Usually there are at least a few MNetters with experience no matter how unusual the condition is.

I had two dcs that were tongue tied and so I suppose it's just another funny thing under the tongue!
