should I request blood test to rule out cancer?

My ds who is generally healthy developed a lump on his neck. He was referred for a scan by the GP, and the radiologist said it was enlarged lymph nodes but he should have a general assessment by a paediatrician as he may have some middle ear problems (ds's speech is not great).
While waiting for the referral, ds has complained of pain in his leg and his back and neck. The GP didn't order a blood test at the time of the ultrasound as she thought it might be too invasive and ds generally seems healthy, but I am concerned there is a tiny possibility that the pains in his limbs coupled with the lymph nodes could be some form of cancer - anyone any advice please?

ps my ds is 5 and seems to have a very high pain threshold - eg he never comments on pain even when he is clearly injured

I think you should go back and ask for a blood test. Not because I think it is cancer, but because if you are worried it will put your mind at rest. There is nothing worse than worrying about you DCS health
