I'm looking for some ideas as to how to help my just-turned 1 DS who has a throat infection and is terribly distressed.

GP has given us prescription for antibiotics in case it's bacterial, but says likely to be viral, so can't advise beyond giving baby paracetamol and/or ibuprofen.

Anyone know of anything that might help (I know it really helps when I have a sore throat to gargle with salty water, but not an option here obviously)

He cries every time he tries to swallow any food or liquid, even sometimes when breastfeeding.

Thanks!

I've no idea but I'm suffering terribly with a sore throat too. What is helping me more than anything at the moment is anything ice cold, so iced water, ice-cream, anything cold is heaven and very soothing.

But to be honest, I've always found breastmilk the best cure for little ones. Feed as much as you can.

I hope he is better soon, poor boy.

Thanks llareggub - good advice - I'll give him lots of cold stuff. First time he's been ill - so sad
