What is the best kind of mattress for a 6 year old? (with no health problems)

In the shop DH and liked the foam mattress but is that too firm for a child? Does it matter at that age? We always had old saggy mattresses when I was a kid. DD's toddler bed was second hand and also very saggy and springy.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
