Hi

DD had has couple of hard swollen glands in her neck (behind ear) for over week. Really hard. About pea sized.

She fine in herself (no temp; eating; lots of energy) but this comes on top of 6 months of hives and erythemia mulitformae (strange rash!).

She at several blood tests 6 weeks ago and all were fine (FBC; infection; liver; kidney function etc.)

Anyone else had this? Any advice on what to do next given she seems fine. Obviously cancers and auto immune always a worry but she seems so totally well (eating like a horse and running cross country!)

Thanks

Hi,

Wanted to answer as swollen glands always worry. My 2 have had swollen glands every now and again, my dd has one hard one that's been there since she was few months old, she's 14 months now. My 5 year old ds has one in neck that goes up and down with illness. My dr says swollen glands in children are normal and only if they go really really big fo they bother about them. Dd has some in her groin from her excema too. I would also be assured as you've had a fbc.

They thought my dd had erythema multiforme a while back, posted on here and Noone had heard of it.

Of course go to gp if you are worried but with my two the gland thing seems par for the course.

Thanks CharlieBoo. Erythema Multiforme is very strange - nobody I knew had heard of it either. She had months of hives and face swelling and then strange red patches (like large rings) on her back that did not itch or hurt and lasted three days sometimes. Took photos to doc and they diagnosed EM.She also tested postive for a throat infection which apparently is one of the causes of EM - it went after anti bs and now only seems to come back if she has a cold or some other infection.
