I am trying to think of a book that i can give to my dds best friend. She is moving away and has always been very close to dd. We would like to give her a lovely book preferably about friendship. Any ideas ?

We are also looking for a quote about friendship to write inside and are a bit stuck.

Anne of Green Gables
Can write something about being a bosom friend??

I loved "What katy Did", which themes around friendship, as does Anne of Green Gables

Also the Narnia set.

Oh lovely ideas thank you. I feel very sad dd is heartbroken that she is leaving.

Not classic but dd1 has a lovely Cathy Cassidy book set, I have read 2 of them they all seem to be themed around different friendships

I love Little Women and Ann of Green Gables, which have both been previously mentioned,

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, not so obviously about friendship as the other suggestions, but it's there!

Thank you it doesn't have to be about friendship really, just a lovely keepsake book. I am having trouble finding a special copy of Anne of Green Gables.

How about "The Secret Garden"? I have seen lovely illustrated versions of classics at Daunt Books on Fulham Road. They are v helpful and send stuff by post, so you could call them and ask?

101 Dalmations by Dodie Smith

Forget the films - the book is wonderful. I read it to my two oldest - 11 and 12 - they were hooked. 11 year old girl sneaked into my room to get ahead.

I was given a copy of Alices Adventures in Wonderland at about that age. I loved it. I was very when I realised a few years ago that I'd lost it.
