Hi,

We currently live abroad. So we don't forget the UK...I'm looking for some hardcover or picture books for my 4 year old DD on the UK. Is there such a thing? Any titles and authors to recommend?

Some cute stories on the culture of the UK and/or history of the UK, geography, photos, etc. That sort of thing.

Also any stories on football/soccer?

Also any recommendations on a book on recycling?

Thank you!

Might not be the kind of thing you are looking for, but my office in London gave me DD a really sweet book called "katie in London" when we left the UK - its got some cute pics of various landmarks in London and a sweet story about the lions in Trafalgar Square coming to life. DD is only 2 though, so it might be a bit young for your DD:

www.amazon.co.uk/Katie-London-James-Mayhew/dp/1843622858/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272770872&s r=1-1

DD adores it and loves pointing out all the things she recognises

Hi there

For books on the UK try:-

ABC UK - A picture book where each letter of the alphabet is represented by an illustration of something which is associated to the geography, history and culture of the UK.

For football stories, if for DD then try:-

Harry and the Dinosaurs United - Ian Whybrow

If for a slightly older child then Theo Walcott has just brought out a series of football books for 5-8 year olds.

For recycling, try 'Michael Recycle' and 'Litterbug Doug' both by Ellie Bethel.

Something like this?

Or perhaps a treasury of very English(?) stories like this one, which includes Beatrix Potter and Wind in the Willows etc.

Ooh - madamehooch, those look great. I'll be ordering the ABC UK for DD!
