Last minute book day question - someone said you would be able to help!

What book character could ds (year 3) be if he goes to book day wearing a uk army dressing up outfit tomorrow [last minute lazy parent emoticon].
Does the book have to have been in print yet, or could I get away with a quick made up army story before bedtime??

My ds is going in army gear tomorrow and the book he is taking is a factual one about armour through he ages, but if that book will not do he is also taking Toy Story as they have the army men in it.
