Anyone know the name of this book

I think it's aimed more at teens than kids, it was one I read when I was a kid and it terrified me.

The cover I remember, but not hte name or author.

The cover (I think) was pale blue with pastel door frames on it, one inside the other. It was a bit of a post apocalyptic story, that gave me nightmares, and I've grown up hooked on horror, so it's always stuck in my head and I'd love to know what it actually is. Any ideas?

Was it a Robert Westall?

was it Z for Zachariah? We did it for English Lit GCSE. Teenage girl left in a valley strangely unaffected by nuclear bomb. Everyone else is dead.

I'm not sure waiting

It was about (as far as I can remember) some kids after some sort of disaster happened (a brother and sister) travelling through a disaster zone after they lost their parents. I can remember if they were looking for their parents or if they died. I never finished it, so can't remember much else. I think there were some sorts of gangs about that they were hiding from.

Children of the dust?

Wasn't it Empty World by John Christopher? I remember the doors. Everyone has died of an illness that makes them age very fast. As far as I remember it's just a teenage boy though he looks after some younger children at some point.
