It won't be long before Dtwin 1 (6) will be a free reader. His twin loved The Magic Treehouse but Dtwin doesn't love books in the same way-he does love general knowledge/fact books though. Anybody seen any nice ones?

TIA

The I wonder Why series is good

eg I wonder Why stars Twinkle. Sometimes you can get a whole set from The Book People very cheaply.

ORT do some good fact books at this level. DS (7 yo) who became a free reader last term loved A-Z of Survivial and before that a book on Nelson Mandela. I also buy him Kids National Geographic which he loves and gets sent to him monthly thru' the post - he likes getting post .

Oxford Reading Tree A-Z of SurvivalHere. ORT do books called Fact Finders for this age group.

Magic Treehouse Research guides are factual books that tie in with some of the MTH books. We have ones for Mummies, Knights, Pirates, Dinosaurs, space, rainforests, ice age, dolphins, polar bears and the arctic, and some more that I can't remember.

Usborne Reading Scheme has a bunch of factual books about historical figures. Also Wonderwise series, Great Events series, Kingfisher My best Book series, Magic Schoolbus, What on Earth Series,How to Avoid series (Avoid becoming an Aztec sacrifice/Egyptian pyramid builder/ ancient olympic athelete etc.) very funny and informative. Kingfisher young knowledge books. We also have the I Wonder Why books and they are good, too.
