Blimey...that's a hard book to read without sobbing. DD was reading it at school.
Literary emotional torture for a 9 year old.
I sat and wept.

It's used as an exemplar Literacy unit for year 6 - utterly compelling, Y6 love it.

Would think twice, at least, before reading it to y5/4.

A beautiful book, i agree, Feenie, but very hard to read aloud.
Bedtime reading is Adolphus Tipps at the moment, i'm dreading the end!
