Can you help figure out who this is?

Am thinking of books i loved as child, and there is one that keeps coming into my head and I can't remember what it was.

It was a collection of short stories- one about a princesses necklace made from pearls, iirc. But the most distinctive thing was the illustrations, which were all in black silhouette. I should KNOW who this is, but i just can't remember.

Keep thinking Joan Aiken, but not sure?

Think i may have found it- is J.A- Necklace of Raindrops and the illustrations are Jan Pienkowski (sp),
I loved these stories as a child, it was the book i got out of the library the most

It was Joan Aiken I thought of when reading that, although can't pinpoint the actual story...she has a number of books of short stories and they're fab. Hope you figure it out!
