Reading material – 6yo boy (but reads a lot)

Can anyone give me some suggestions for some reading material ? esp names of authors. At the moment my son (almost 6) enjoys reading (on his own) Enid Blyton (Secret Seven), Roald Dahl and also the Horrid Henry books. We?re overseas at the moment ? so can?t pop into the library and try things out. Instead we have to get things sent to us (time consuming and unreliable!), so want to be sure that anything that arrives here is suitable! So we?re looking for suggestions of books that are about of the standard of Secret Seven (or a bit higher). Does anyone have any tips???
Many thanks!

DD is just 7, and loves the Secret Seven, and also other EB series including Famous Five, & the Adventurous Four.

She also likes Animal Ark by Lucy Daniels (the earliest ones are aimed at younger readers than later ones in the series), possibly a bit 'girly' but one of the two main characters is a boy.

How to Train your Dragon and lots of others by Cressida Cowell are very good, possibly a bit harder than Secret Seven though.

Ds likes Captain Underpants.

My son really likes the Beast Quest series by Adam Blade, kind of like a child's Lord of the Rings.

Another vote for Beast Quest. DS is six and loves them; he gallops through them though so be warned! On the plus side, there are loads of them (over 30!).

slayerettee - I know what you mean about galloping through them. DS loves them and will read one non-stop given the chance. I never thought I would have to say 'Put that book down', but I have to since he has discovered Beast Quest!

We are staying with my parents at the moment - bought him a new one yesterday to keep him going over Easter weekend - he's finished it and is asking for the next one

Second mortgage anyone?
