My DS aged 8 can dress up as his favourite book character next thursday. This is tom from beast quest. I can't find any outfits like this and wondered if anyone had any ideas or other costumes?

Is he too old for Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs? Nice and easy......

sundew · 24/02/2009 22:15

How about Harry Potter - just recycle the Halloween stuff and add a pair of glasses?

My 8 y/o DS is going as Wally from the Where's Wally books.

Silly glasses, stripy top and binoculars.

I'm in the same boat, ds1 is almost 6 reads factual dinosaur books, costumes are usually for small children.

He wants to be velociraptor, so basically the bad ones in Jurassic Park! I don't want to send him in with razor like claws

Am hoping to find Horrid Henry stripy jumper, any ideas of where I can get one of them?

cazzybabs · 28/02/2009 10:53

For stripey jumpers have you tried Clothkits...although they are not cheap.

DD is going as Hiccup from the how to train your dragon book...not sure what she is going to wear on her bottoms though

wiggletwin · 29/09/2009 12:26

Hi, how did you get on with finding a Tom from Beast Quest costume? I am in the same boat early Oct. Only Tom will do! Any ideas? Thanks

nickelbabe · 29/09/2009 12:34

baggy trousers, knee length boots with big fold-overs (think puss-in-boots), a tunic with a sew up lace at the top and a jewellws belt.
and a sword.
and shaggy hair.

Tom is obviously a popular one this year - my DS and at least one other in year 2 are doing it this year... And beware, Tom wears different things as the books progress (we're going early Tom in trousers, and tunic, but in the later books he's in armour...)

Am making simple blue tunic from cotton fabric, have made mock-suede trousers (just copied a pair of pyjama bottoms) and going to make a belt and lace-up bits for the tunic from the trouser fabric. Sheild is cardboard with the claw/scales etc etc velcroed on. Haven't done the feather yet, but am thinking of spraying a pigeon feather gold... Am hoping he won't ask for a sword!

HTH!
