can anyone tell me about 'Animal Rescue' collection please?

are they deadly formulaic drones, or reasonably well written?

They aren't too bad. DS1 reads them. They are simply constructed stories, fairly predictable but harmless as well. He quite enjoys them and is definitely drawn to stories about animals - if your dc is the same then they are worth a read and I would say better than the Tiara Club/Rainbow Drivel - these stories are definitely more earthy.

'these stories' meaning the Animal Rescue ones being more earthy, iykwim.
