OMG I am v chuffed.

I have been rereading my Judy Blume collection recently, then bought the newer "Fudge" books for DS which he is a bit young for so I read them myself.

There was a Judy Blume website so I went to have a look. You could post a message for Judy so I wrote saying thank you for the wonderful books and how much I had enjoyed them and how I was looking forward to reading them to my son.

Today I got an email from Judy herself thanking me for my warm comments.

It would be from Judy herself if signed "Judy" wouldn't it? If it were her assistant surely would have been signed "on behalf of"....am I getting excited about nothing or can I print out the email and keep it for eternity? (along with my complete works of Judy Blume

Ralph tee hee

I still snigger if I ever meet anyone called Ralph (am sure a whole generation of women do!)

I had actually forgotten how great her early stuff is - it is laugh out loud funny. I cannot wait for DS to be old enough to enjoy with me.

I run two reading clubs for children aged 11-14. Every year at the beginning of the year they all choose an author to write to. Over the months the replies gradually trickle in, and it is always a thrill for everybody when a reply arrives and is read out at the club. (We keep copies and the originals go home with the children.)

It helps the children to think of authors as real people, and also inspires them with their own reading and writing.

I LOVED Judy Blume. I learned everything I know about periods and breasts from her books.
