Way of the Warrior (Young Samurai)

I'm thinking of buying DS this as a stocking filler for christmas. Has anyone read it or had a child enjoy it?

It does look good and it has great reviews.

I have just read it and really enjoyed it (I can claim I was doing research, littlelapin will be proud of me!).

There is a bit of romance in it, but no lovey-dovey stuff, so it shouldn't be off-putting for a ds.

Is there anything in particular you would like to know?

Oh DS is all "emo" these days so he'll probably enjoy the romance just as much as the martial arts!

I'm basically just trying to find him good novels that will increase his interest in reading.
