What book for a 12 yr old boy

Hi
Hoping someone maybe able to tell me what boys of 12 like to read. (husbands friends son).I don't have a clue as I have 3 girls and oldest is 6.
Last year I got him guiness book of records so don't want to do that again.

I presume boys of this age still enjoy silly humour, (toilet humour type things). Was thinking of finding a book along that sort of line for him.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Is he an avid reader? Best thing is to check with his parents what type of books he likes. There are some great series of books available (fiction), such as the Alex Rider books by Anthony Horowitz, or the Young Bond books by Charlie Higson. But you need to find out what he likes and what he's already read.

Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo
Windsinger by William Nichols
Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz
Dangerous Book for Boys

sky pirates series by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddle, very popular here, but again fantasy genre so need to try and check that's one he enjoys.

My 12 year old son has read so many fiction books it is impossible for anyone to buy him one he probably ahsn't had from the library - or he owns. He has been buying funny books for his friends for birthdays recently and these are some of his favourites (and his friends)
Bunny Suicides by Andy Riley
Flanimals by Ricky Gervais
Ripleys Believe it or not
How to Be a Genius

this is not silly humour but is fantastic and I think would appeal to a 12 year old boy.

The best fiction I've found for a boy this age is:
The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz (which he's probably already read or at least aware of)
The Jimmy Coates series by Joe Craig (which my boys actually thought was better - it's like the Bourne Identity but for kids)
The HIVE series by Mark Walden
Cry of the Icemark is also a decent read if the boy is already into books and reading. If not, I would stick with the first three suggestions.
