She refused point blank to read The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge. How can she be soooo cruel to me? Tis one of my very favourite books.

Any of your childhood favs been rejected by your heartless DC?

Link worked for me on a Mac . . .
Will try William on DD (although DH says he will blame me if it gives her more ideas ).
Do you think that the problem with your DS might just be that it is a school book - I remember objecting to most things that we read at school pretty much on principle

Reverse psychology always works for me.
I told DS1 that he would hate The Book Thief and that I thought the themes were too adult for him.

He read it in a week.

that is enxt on my list to read to dd1 ormirian

can't bear it if she hates it

luckily so far she is GLUED to the little house series (i read them to her otherwise she would never manage)

it would KILL me if she didn't want to read Flambards

Thanks Seeker; it worked - my computer must've been on strike last night. The book looks great - just my cup of tea; now I just have to convince the dds too!

I like the reverse physcology idea: will try that on dd1 with "Pride And Prejudice"!

I've just found The Little White Horse on my bookshelf (happy synchronicity )- however I can't for the life of me remember how old I was when I read this - dd's 6, do you think she's too young to appreciate it (if she does appreciate it at all that is )

Bought "Marianne Dreams" today. I plan to go to bed early with it, with a big mug of hot chocolate and then ask the dds to read it over half term, in exchange for being allowed to go and see the monstrosity that is High School Musical today. Thanks again, Seeker.

Seeker - it was LOVELY! And dd2 is locked away upstairs with her nose stuck in it now. Thank you.
