Love stories for 11 year olds.

My 11 year old dd has just finished reading The Amber Spyglass. 'I am now into love stories,' she says. 'What can I read?'
I have given her:
The Greengage Summer (Rumer Godden)
The Seeing Stone (K Crossley Holland)
I Capture the Castle (Dodie Smith)

And she has just finished How I Live Now (Meg Rosoff)

So can anyone think what next?

Are you a fan of Jacqueline Wilson?

Hilary Makay - starting with Saffy's Angel. Slightly easier reads than the three you have given her and brilliant. My 12 year old re-reads them as comfort books.

She also loves Anne McCaffrey's Dragon books. There's love in there - even if it's often between a man and his dragon! Dragonsinger is a good one to start with.

I think dd is over J Wilson- she has read quite a few. Some are very good I know.

Haven't tried Anne McCaffrey, but will put her on the library list!

I know Hilary McKay very well indeed, Seeker, she will be delighted to hear your dd likes her books so much. If your dd would like signed copies I could get them easily but don't know how to get them to you.

Jane Eyre is a good idea, but I think both the Hardy brothers may be over her head. I personally cannot read them but that is the result of being dragged through Far From the Madding Crowd at school, paragraph by relentless paragraph. (Still do not know what a madding crowd is either, nor what they were doing to the sheep).
