Inclusive Books for Children Starting School

I am interested in inclusive books regarding first year of school for my older one and also inclusive books about the first visits to a dentist for my younger one.

Topsy and Tim books cover starting school and dentist and a million other childhood experiences.
Starting School by Janet and Allan Ahlberg is the BEST book in the world for new school starters.

In what way are you using the word 'inclusive'? What is it that you want the books to feature? Is it about the illustrations or the words, or both?

I’m not clear on what you mean by inclusive. This one is great for new starters and features illustrations of children of lots of skin tones, physical disabilities etc. It’s designed to read with your child, and has suggestions of activities to do together as well. The author is an ex TA and ensures her books are accessible for children with SEN as well as those that don’t.

I mean books that reflect the diversity of the real world. Books that feature people with different skin tones, children and adults who use wheelchairs and people from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Mainly the illustrations because of the age of the kids.
