My DD just turned 5yo her favourites are anything by Enid Blyton (faraway tree, wishing chair series’ both read and many books of short stories), Rainbow Fairy series and the unicorn equivalent, we are currently reading loads of Harriet Muncaster’s books Isadora Moon, Miribelle & Emerald.

Doesn't need pictures, please could I have some recommendations?

The Zoes Rescue Zoo & Amelia Fang series were big hits for both of my girls at the same age

Kitty series by Paula Harrison
Daisy and the Trouble with... by Kes Gray
Jasmine Green rescue animals series by Helen Peters
Zoe's Rescue Zoo series by Amelia Cobb
Holly Webb puppy and kitten stories (there are hundreds!)
Wigglesbottom Primary series by Pamela Butchart
Claude series by Alex T Smith

If you want to go more classic, Paddington or Winnie the Pooh. Some shorter Roald Dahl too such as The Magic Finger, George's Marvellous Medicine, Esio Trot and Fantastic Mr Fox.

At that age with mine I read things like:

The shorter Roald Dahls…..The Twits, Esio Trot.
The Secret Garden
The Jill books (Ruby Ferguson…horsey!)
Narnia books
The Hobbit (it’s a linear, simple story although a bit longer, and they loved it)

Oh yes Winnie the Pooh!

My daughter loved the Worst Witch around that age.
Dick King Smith also
