Please help me find a very old book - a big ask so apologies

Talking with my Aunt today about a book I had as a child (so in the 60s but possibly a much older book). It featured twin girls who wore large woolly hats (think they were orange) down to their knees.

That is all we can remember but I am relying on the brilliance of Mumsnet to come up with the book.

Could it be one of The Twins series of books by Lucy Fitch Perkins?

My only other guess is that it might be a Bobbsey Twins book. If not, I hope someone else comes along to help!

Register at abe books UK site and find the Book Sleuth Children’s forum. Include the words ‘twin girls orange woolly socks’ in your thread title (they don’t like hundreds of threads called ‘looking for a book’). I guarantee you will get your answer within a few replies.

@HappyNewTaxYear thank you, I will give this a go. Trouble is, my memory might be wrong on colour (or even if this is real memory 😄) or even if they were children or some sort of creature.

Could it be this? I know the hats don’t go down to their knees but the pattern does so could easily be misremembered maybe?
