Has anyone any good suggestions for books about making friends for DD. Are there any books that show a child how to be more assertive or confident?
Anything up to about age 7 or 8 level would be great.
Many many thanks,

Have you had a look on Amamzon.co.uk They are good for books. I think there may be a book called 'Sometimes I am shy'. They tend to have most books on their site. Hope this helps

I got DD one called 'Wonderful You' which was great for selfesteem in a very lighthearted way.

Thank you for replying...I had a look in Borders and Waterstones today but couldn't find a single book on the subjects. There are tons of books about making friends on amazon but it seems such a minefield that I was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations. 'Sometimes I am shy' sounds excellent...it has been added to my wish list!

Hi there, Have you tried your local charity shop? They often have some lovely traditional story books and old fashioned childrens books which you cannot get any more. My local one sells books for 10p and we have found some little gems. Just another idea

I correct myself, it is called Incredible you but it is aimed at younger children - I had to go and look on the bookshelf.

Willy and Hugh by Anthony Browne

Willy the chimp is lonely, but then he bumps into the gorilla, Hugh Jape, and though the pair are very different, a friendship grows between them. Hugh may have to protect little Willy from the attentions of Buster Nose, but Willy can read to Hugh and save him when a spider comes along.

For ages 4 - 7

  • In my opinion for a story about friendship this is just great!!!
