My DD has been searching for this book, read to her by a lovely supply teacher in primary school. DD thinks she was maybe in year 3-4 at the time, which would be approx 8-10 years ago. Here is what she wrote. 'On the front cover it was beige and the drawing was delicate and there was a big giant bear and a small bear. it might have had the word love it in. there wasn't that many pages but the book was quite wide and square. there was a page where there was a big bear and a small bear and it was a delicate autumnal drawing with leaves and a bench they sat on and i think there was another scene where it was blue and dark and the bears were in the park but it was sad. the bears didn't wear clothes or humanly things. i cant remember if there was more than 2 bears and it had to have come out before 2016 i think. the illustrations were delicate and hand drawn and there was a bunch of pathetic fallacy in it i think like a storm at the beginning maybe.". A bit rambly, but I just go with what I've got.
Please Mumsnet, help me finding what book it was. Will make an anxious teen girl happy.

The famous one is Love you To the Moon and Back which has a big and a little bear on the front.

My DC loved Can't You Sleep Little Bear? which was about a baby bear not ready to hibernate and that had lots of autumnal leaves on the inside pictures, I think. (it was years ago that I read it to them.)

Could it be either of these?

"Where's My Bear?" perhaps?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wheres-My-Teddy-Eddy-Bear/dp/1844284816

I remember the line "Eddie's teddy's name is Freddy, he lost him in the wood somewhere, it's dark and horrible in there"
Could that be the one?

The bear and the piano?

MiddlingMarch · 03/02/2025 22:51

Or Oliver Jeffer's "great paper caper"?

Neither totally fit the description but both sprung to mind.

Is it Old Bear by Jane Hissey?

Apologies for not replying sooner. Checked all books with DD and unfortunately none of them is THAT book.
The Bears were brown, and she thinks they were in the city.

I was always quite fond of The Bears We Know by Brenda Silsbe.

Doesn't fit all your descriptions, but "Little One" by Jo Weaver?
