Any Book Recommendations for a 3 yr old Toddler

Hiya mums! I have a 3 yr old toddler and....I'm thinking of further reducing her screen time and getting her more interested in books. Do you have any good books to recommend? Thanks a bunch!

Join the library and let them choose! Their tastes change quickly at that age plus it’s a good rainy day activity.

Absolutely join your local library. The librarians would be able to advise on good authors too.

The smartest giant in town
Room on the broom
Don't let the pigeon drive the bus
Little Rabbit Foofoo
The Baddies
Collin the chameleon
An elephant knows best

What has she been reading so far? What does she watch for her screen time? Maybe find some books linked to that and then move onto new books?

My 3.5yo loves:
Any book by Julia Donaldson - current favourite, What the Ladybird Heard, The Hospital Dog and The Paper Dolls
Percy the Park Keeper stories
Mr Men and Little Miss books
She's just started doing ballet so I bought some Angelina Ballerina books as a bit of encouragement
Books by Janet and Allen Ahlbeg - especially the Jolly Postman ones
The Tiger Who Came to Tea

Anything by Julia Donaldson, especially the Acorn Wood ones as they're lift that flap.

Any of the "Ten Little...." By Mike Brownlow.

Any of the "There's a ..... In my book" series by Tom Fletcher

The Julia Donaldson ones are fab as are Tom Fletcher.
My son loves the oi frog, oi dog etc.

Growlybear83 · 16/01/2025 20:51

My daughter loved the Mr Men books at that age, and also Beatrix Potter and Noddy.

Thanks so much for the awesome recommendations! I'm definitely going to check out the Oi Frog for my daughter. It sounds super cool, and I'm curious to see what she thinks of it too!

Those are some amazing recommendations! Thanks so much. She watches a mix of things, Bluey, Paw Patrol, and we’ve recently moved into movies, went through a few Disney and Pixar ones. Current obsession is The Grinch.

BookTrust has some great recommendations. Do you have a local library?

Thanks for the link @redgingerbread! I’ve been recommended You choose before, it’s on my list and should order it. Yes, we have a decent library that we went to a couple of times for some events. Haven’t been in a while so may be a good shout.

DD loved You Choose. The book occasionally had to "go on holiday" before I lost my mind reading it so often.

As others have said though I would sign them up at their local library and let them choose a few books Wink
