Want to get my ds age 3 a book explaining that he is about to be a big brother!

Has anybody read any good books to their dc about becoming a big brother or sister?
I am due to have give birth at the end of August and really would like to have some stories to read to ds to prepare him, preferably where the boy gets a new sister as we no we are having a girl?
Has anyone come across any good ones I have only heard of Theres a House Inside Mummys Tummy but have never read it does anyone have any opinions on this book or others please TIA

we had there's a house inside my mummy, tis written by pueple ronnie

we also had topsy and tim and the new baby, and za za's baby brother but didn't like the za za one much

We also had There's a house inside my mummy and enjoyed it. There is 20% off it here There is also the Usborne one called New Baby. There is also I'm a Big Brother Now which has its pros and cons (assumes baby will be bottle fed)and also I think some Americanisms.

I really didn't like there a house inside my mummy. I can't bear Purple Ronnie on a good day, but it makes the gruffalo look like shakespeare. Also it concentrates on the pg rather than addressing the (slightly more challenging) time once the baby is here.

We had "little rabbit's new baby" by Harry horse. Beautiful drawings and a great story. Once the babies arrive, the don't play, they keep mummy and daddy up and make them grumpy, they break things etc... you get the picture. Tis all OK in the end of course, but paints a realistic-ish picture of life with a newborn. Except it's a rabbit not a baby. My DD was just 2 when DD2 was born and it helped us.

Waiting for Baby (covers expecting a baby up to and including the birth) and My New Baby (covers life with a new baby) are good because they are pictures only and you can make your discussion relevant to your situation.

There's Sophie and the New Baby, but that's a sister who gets a new brother and it's a winter baby, but it's quite a good story! Also, 'What's inside your tummy mummy' which my 7 year old niece thought was great when I was pg and 'what's in your tummy Mummy which is a more suitable 'lift the flap' book which DS quite liked, but which is friend thought was fab. And while looking on Amazon, I found this which might be good.

Hope it's all going well - good luck. I certainly found that starting the preparation early has helped our DS1 accept his brother.

If you want something a bit different, someone bought DS Little Tiger's Big Surprise although I have to admit he did find the connection a bit too tenuous.

We also had the ones PortandLemon linked to and DS liked those - and the I'm a Big Brother Now one.

No specific suggestions but have you tried your local library? I've seen lots of such books in the library. We did end up borrowing one which I thought was rather nice but I can't remember title or author at all, sorry!

ds loved zazas baby brother (think it's called that, by the person who wrote maisie i think? ) used to read it with his name instead of zaza

I also like the ones PortandLemon links to
they have a real warmth to them, and an overall positive message, although they do have some moments of realism eg the baby crying loudly and big brother looking worried and putting hands over ears! Also liked where mum has flaked out on the sofa and dad and big brother cook the dinner

very nice messages about what it will be like when the baby arrives

there's a house inside my mummy has a really worrying bit about the door to get out being 'rather tight'.....made me cringe!

the bit about the door being 'rather tight' - dp likes to waggle his eyebrows at me at that point
I have told him if he feels like passing a grapefruit through the end of his penis he might also find it rather tight
