Not so much into romance, more adventure, spy, detective.
I looked at the Murder most Unladylike I've seen recommended and Amazon says it's #1. Bestseller in Children's Fiction on Sexuality! What does this actually mean and the synopsis doesn't seem to give this impression? Are they suitable for an 11 year old?

She's read all Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Simon Thorn, Warrior Cats, Storm Runner, Agatha Oddly, Eragon, and several Katherine Rundell.

Not a lot of sexuality in the ones I've read. A bit of crushing, that's all.

It's probably number one in that category because the one in the theatre, explores Daisy being confused by feelings for one of the actresses there isn't even kissing. Other than that the only remotely sexual reference is them saying something about a pash at school, when they are a little bit in awe of the head girl. They are a great book series I still have a couple to read but the kids have read them all.

Some other mysteries she might like are the Lizzie and Belle Mysteries by J.T Williams, The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd, the second one in that series is by Robin Stevens and its called The Guggenheim Mystery. The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop and The Curse Of The Chocolate Phoenix by Kate Saunders are also very good.

If you just want good books I am going to recommend Stewart Foster and Eva Ibbotson as authors because I haven't read a bad one yet, Cragbridge Hall Series by Chad Morris and Finishing School by Gail Carriger.

Mine are younger but I know my 11 year old niece enjoyed:

A Place called Perfect by Helena Duggan
The Diamond Brothers series by Anthony Horowitz
The Diamond of Drury Lane series by Julia Golding
Scarlett by Cathy Cassidy
The Casson Family series by Hilary McKay, as well as the 'Skylark's War' book and the sequel she wrote to A Little Princess
Molly Moon 1 and 2 (maybe slightly young for some 11 year olds)

She also loves Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Percy Jackson! I always mix up Skulduggery Pleasant, the Spiderwick Chronicles and the Spook's Apprentice but I know she likes at least some of them 😬

Mine is working her way through Diana Wynne Jones, and Tamora Pierce. Both major on strong female leads, good messages, plenty of humour and a lot to talk about.

The Murder Most Unladylike books are amazing. The reason they are number 1 in Sexuality is because the main character is a lesbian (which isn't mentioned until the last few books, and is done in a totally age-appropriate way- she just gets crushes on girls).

Also, has she read Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events?
