Has anyone read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein?

I've had this book since DD was a baby (she's nearly 12) and I still can't read it without crying. DP just doesn't get it at all, and thinks it's not a great book. Have never met anyone else who's read it.

we were given it but tbh it freaks us out a bit. it seems kind of obsessive. its my BIL favourite book though, which is why he gave it to us,

I used to read it a lot - it always made me cry as well.

Yes I agree it always makes me cry too. We've also got a fantastic book of his poems called Where the Sidewalk Ends.
