Books for 6 year old DS

Hi

I would really appreciate any recommendations for books for my DS 6. He's reading independently sometimes but struggles with books that are 'just text' on each page. He gets overwhelmed! I'm trying to find him something that balances a few lines of text with a colourful picture. He got very into the 'oi frog' series when he first started to read by himself, but looking for a step up.

He's into mythical beasts, magic, anything like that. Would be good to find something to keep his interest.

Thanks

There are some Winnie the Witch stories aimed at ages 5-8 which have plenty of illustrations.

Suspect he would like the Beasts of Olympus series (Lucy Coats) in the near future.

My ds’s favourite picture-chapter books at that age were:
Wigglesbottom Primary
Billy and the Mini Monsters
Claude series and Mr Penguin series by Alex T Smith
Jasper and Scruff
Hotel Flamingo
Kitty series by Paula Harrison
Dave Pigeon

Beast Quest? There loads of those and they are chapter books but fairly easy reads, I think some pictures

The following are all a series of early chapter book with coloured illustrations:-

Wigglesbottom Primary
Shifty Mcgifty and Slippery Sam (also a picture book series but do chapter books too)
Bear and Rabbit
Claude series
Isadora Moon (might be a bit girly though?)
Kitty series (again probably aimed at girls sadly but look less outwardly girly, she's a superhero)
