Hi has anyone got any gens they can recommend?
Since starting secondary DD barely reads - she said AR has put her off!

Anyhow she is struggling to get to sleep and a bit of downtime Reading might help but I need to inspire her !

So far this holiday she has only read the latest Lottie Brooks, she is plodding through hunger games ( she seems to have stopped!)

She read escape room and space oddity by Christopher Edge for school.

The last big obsession was warrior cats in years 5 and 6

She is a great reader so maybe ready for something a Bit older.

All ideas welcome!

At that age my DD loved the His Dark Materials trilogy, the Noughts and Crosses books by Mallory Blackman and anything by Frances Hardinger.

My DD is the same age and has also enjoyed the Noughts and Crosses series. She’s currently on the Summer I turned Pretty which is now a TV series on Amazon Prime.

If she’s struggling to sleep how about books on Audible to listen to?

The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper?
The Whitby Witches by Robin Jarvis?

Both fantasy genre and good reads for that age.

My DD is same age - dyslexic but loves reading. When she wants something a bit easier, she goes for the Sweet Cherry publishing Easy Classics. They're an easy read but well-written, fun and give a good backdrop to stories they might read when they get older at school.

Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching books?

Im not sure a 4 or 5 year old should read warrior cats, as a 15 year old i love the books and know they include alot of death and gore and stuff like that. I am also a good reader and finished 3 series of warrior cats in about 4 months or less
