Children's book on modern British history

Any recommendations for a children's book (age range 9+ should be fine) about modern history, say the last 100 years? Ideally focusing on British history and going all the way up to the present day. DD is interested in this but the vast majority of children's history books seem to be about the Tudors or Ancient Egypt!

Horrible Histories?
David Olusoga "Black and British"?

Thanks! There does turn out to be a Horrible Histories about the 20th century (out of print but available used) which could be good.

Hi mentalblank. I'd recommend "A brush with the past" by Shirley Hughes. It covers the period from 1900 to 1950 and has beautiful pictures and details.
