I was in Borders yesterday and they had copies of the Velveteen Rabbit reduced to £4 - beautiful full size hard back illustrated. I hadn't read it before but I'm sure someone here recommended it. It is a truly lovely story - my dd's are too young for it at the moment so I am going to put it away until they're a bit older. I know want to go back and get more copies to give to all my friends as it's such a lovely story. Can anyone who knows this book tell me what ages your dc's were when they were able to understand and enjoy this book?

dd just got it and they both enjoyed it (5&7). Read it about 1.5 yrs ago and they found it too sad, so it just sat on our bookshelves, but has now been resurrected.
Tis very moving.

my favourite book as a child! ds1 loved it from age 6, and still does (he's 8)
