Fantasy adventure books with Maps

A bit of an odd one - my DS has become very interested in fiction books that have a map of the world the book is set in inside. he has loved Land of Roar, Nothing to See Here Hotel, Rainbow Grey, Amelia Fang etc

Open to any genre - although this is more common in fantasy and adventure stories. Any recommendations gratefully received.

He’s nearly 7, but reads above - hit me with your best ideas!

Beast Quest books have a map at the front, I wouldn't say that is a stand out feature of it though.

The Hobbit.

The Edge Chronicles, Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. Gorgeous illustrations including lots of maps.

Not fantasy, but the Swallows and Amazons books have lots of maps.

From what I remember the edge world chronicles by Chris riddel had a map. Not sure on the age though maybe a bit advanced for 7 year old but you could read with him maybe? Probably aimed more at 10-14 year olds

Possibly the Weirdstone of Brisingemen depending on the edition.

Sorry it’s just Edge Chronicles (edgeworld is the place it’s set though). Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. I looked online and it’s recommended 9+

I missed the age before. My son and his friends read the Edge books in year 3/4 (aged 7, 8 9), iirc, so slightly older than OP's son.

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g sorry I didn’t see your post I was typing mine haha. Great minds!

Don't worry - we started reading Edge Chronicles to DS when he was 5, so maybe you could share the reading?

PretzelKnot · 10/03/2023 11:46

The Wizard of Earthsea has a map. Might be for slightly older kids though.

BlueChampagne · 10/03/2023 12:09

Wizard of Earthsea definitely for older. My 13yo is loving it.
