Looking for a book to explain "How babies are made" to a 3.8 yo.????

Hi, I have looked at the thread about books on becoming a big sister, there are some fab ideas on there, but I would like a book explaining to DD how the baby was made.

We haven't yet told her about the baby, but she will be coming to midwife appointments with me soon, and I'm sure she will have questions!

Any ideas?? Thanks in advance

She may not ask any questions at all. DSs didn't and they were 5 and 7 when DD was born.

They did ask how the baby was going to come out but had no interest on how it got in there.

I don't like Mummy Laid an Egg - though some of the pictures a bit too OTT for little ones TBH. We have a slightly less detailed book called "Made with Love" by Kate Petty. The top words are very basic and brief; the smaller writting further intot he page goes into a bit more detail as and when you want/need it.

Its also laid out in such a way that you can easily skip bits that are perhaps too old

I will say-ds is 4.5 and he has not asked this question, despite having a younger sister already and a baby sibling due any day. He's been to absolutely everything with me. So I wouldn't be too sure that she WILL ask...

He is much more interested in what the baby looks like prebirth, HOW the baby will be born and how we will look after it afterwards. The two best books I have found for him are

the baby pack

the last one has no image on amazon, but it is illustrated by shirley hughes and has lots of cool stuff, like 3 D glasses/images of slightly moving babies, oh and a tape of womb noise. Now I am slightly PMSL that this book is aimed at adults responsible and mature enough to become parents, but for a 4 yo it is brilliant

hmm, yes MLAE is a bit graphic in places, but does make the whole thing seem like good fun, which suits my approach.

Kids not that interested though imo

She has already shown lots of interest in how she was born etc, and always wants to know the ins and outs (excuse the pun!) of everything!

I cant wait to tell her about the baby now
