Just that really. Not sci-fi, that’s DH’s department.

Just finished Stig of the Dump and about to start The Borrowers.

boo1507 · 07/01/2023 17:59

Just finishing Truckers by Terry Pratchett and starting Percy Jackson. Also got The Highland Falcon Thief lined up

Lolly86 · 07/01/2023 18:01

Just finished The Hobbit, DD wants to reread all the Harry Potters again 😁

ChillinwiththeVillains · 07/01/2023 18:05

I just finished Chrestomanci Chronicles and started Morrigan Crow (morning reading with him)). His dad does bedtimes if I can possibly help it. He has been reading Onjali K Rauf books following on from Varjak Paw series. Now Mrs. Nimh and the Rats of Frisbee.
Independentlu he is enjoying Alex Rider graphic novels and listening to every Rick Riordan ever on audiobook (not fond of reading many words on a page).

Tilly and the book wanderers

Holes - requested by DS after reading it at school

thefiddlerselbow · 07/01/2023 18:43

I read Boy by Ronald Dahl to DS at around that age. He absolutely loved it. He's just reread it along with flying solo or going solo... can't remember

RudsyFarmer · 07/01/2023 18:53

I’ll try and remember some of what’s been read to him. He also reads to himself

Charlotte’s Web
Stig of the Dump
The entire Roald Dahl collection
The Paddington books
Some David Williams books but I didn’t enjoy them so said he was on his own with those
Terry Pratchett
The book by Stephen Hawkins and his daughter
King Arthur’s tales
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Christmasaurus books
The Creekers (hated that book)

He reads to himself Harry Potter, The Wimpy kid series, the Treehouse series. Beast Quest, Horrible Histories. The kids version of Shakespeare.

RudsyFarmer · 07/01/2023 18:55

Oh also When the Whales came by Michael Morpego and the Firework maker’s daughter by Phillip Pullman - both fantastic books.

boxingdayisbest · 07/01/2023 20:29

The Christmasaurus Pig
Tom Fletcher's books (all of them!)
Percy Jackson books
Alex Ryder series

MinnieMountain · 08/01/2023 16:59

Some great ideas here. Thank you everyone.

Superfudge series by Judy Blume and also the Kate Saunders books that were recommended to me on here, eg Magicalamity and the WhizzPop Chocolate Shop have also been hits recently.
